I'll try the button again, maybe it works now. I have found out that pasting the links as above automatically checks the open-in-new-tab box. I try to remove that as much as possible. You have the option with right click to open in a new tab. Mobile and Apple users have the option somehow, but I've never used a mouse with less than three buttons.

The date may give it away, but I've been enjoying holidays lately. Although, I will admit I missed one evening due to playing with my radio control car and trying to finish it. No schedule burden as it's the middle of winter with a few inches of snow on the ground, but it had been in pieces way to long with a three year old in the house. For the most part, she does leave them alone, which is nice. But why take that chance?

Speaking of, we painted a body today for one of the cars. I let her choose the two colors. Purple was her first choice. I don't mind purple, in fact the first car I painted this winter was purple with gold stripes. I just prefer each car to have a different base color. So, I mixed silver with purple to give it a different color, then we used brushes to put it on. Typically, you'd want to use an air brush, but she isn't there yet. Brush stroke can add a pretty cool effect on these polycarbonate bodies, where the first layer is the outer layer. I had intended to back the paint with a separate color to make everything pop. Before we painted, I laid out some painter's tape in a semi-random pattern so those areas could be the highlight. This wasn't high quality tape, and it bled. Profusely. Which, actually worked out pretty well for this effect.

The second color? Green. Dark green. I cringed. Then found some premixed dark green I have instead of making a new batch. It doesn't sparkle. More brush. We made sure to paint over most the purple paint, to get that green effect blended into the brush strokes. The same intent as a backer coat.

One note with these bodies is that they come with a protective film on the outside of the body to protect against overspray and paint smudges. This makes them look dull and really hides the paint job. But, I could see what was happening, and decided against a sprayed backing coat. Peeling off the film, the sheen of the polycarbonate really highlighted the paint nicely. I did take a picture, but it does no justice to how the body looks in person. So, that's a second reason you won't see a picture. But, if you're around the college on a hundred and twelfth in the summers on a Sunday morning, you're more than welcome to take a look at it along with the others I painted.

I may have wasted money on an air brush. But, we'll see how the final body paint job of the year goes.
