I'll put the links first, talk second. I normally do, but now the links are at the top.
Just a couple things that popped into my head recently. I was following a car with a really bad name, but seems relatively popular. Even though it advertises as Killed In Action. At some point in the past, that would have been the end of the car name.
There have been other foibles. Such as the thought of one name sounding less foreign than another, when they both really sound foreign. It didn't really hurt that car brand overall. Others, too.
But, one consistency throughout has been some really eyebrow raising design choices. When I was behind a Killed In Action car, I noticed the taillights were made up of many squares. Interesting enough, but the other accents were tilted lines. No more squares. Sure, squares aren't aerodynamic, but at least the square theme could have carried to other accent pieces to care a theme, instead of four or five.
But, I don't think many people really worry about how a car looks anymore. Which is unfortunate. Old cars were said to have better design elements, but I think that was bias as well. Yes, some old cars were well designed and detailed, but others weren't. But, you could always tell which brand of car they were by some design elements.
But other designs take a bit more time to mature. If you believe people have the ability to make real long term plans. Credit cards are one of those.
Going back, they didn't charge any additional money to use a credit card. When they were a new thing. Then, as they gained popularity, it became common to be charged for the use of a credit card, and given minimum purchase amounts. Then, people thought it was bad form to charge credit card people a different amount, so everyone then paid for the credit card fee, even if they used cash. Prices just went up, and a lot more than the nominal credit card fee.
Then, came the idea that cash would be phased out and everyone should use credit cards. Remote pay became the rage and people have pretty much stopped carrying cash. Personally, I know only a handful of people that carry cash. And, now the credit card surcharges are back. Now that you've abandoned cash. But, the prices didn't go down, they went up again. Just more if you're using a credit card.
To be fair, some larger stores don't charge you to swipe a card. Or, list a specific charge to be more accurate. Everyone pays the price as if they are going to use a card.
I'm not sure which method I prefer, everyone paying too much or surcharges for credit card use. But I am sure that money in general is pretty much useless in your society.
But that won't be going far as long as people of limited intelligence keep voting for the richest people in the nation to create laws, which they are absolutely awful at doing. If limited intelligence people would vote for people that actually live their lifestyle to represent the average person, a lot could probably get accomplished. The first thing would be to take the money out of politics. Then get rid of money completely.
First, you need a nation that isn't reliant on other countries for goods. Trade is good to have, that is never in dispute. But any nation should be able to produce everything it needs, but supplement those items with the goods from other countries.
Seems a bit too logical and easy. But, first you have to educate those with limited intelligence responsible for voting in representatives that have nothing in common with themselves.
That seems a taller task than making a cashless society on this planet. Maybe start with the latter, and the former takes care of itself.
