Wash it up, wash it up

Keeping clean. And dry

Ah, the joy of appliances. I've certainly had my share this year. Throw in the rebuild of my air conditioner a few years ago, and I'm ready to not spend large sums of money with no notice for quite some time.

There is one thing I haven't mentioned. Budgeting. With two appliances that didn't reach the decade mark, it's a good time to rethink the extra put-away for such things. I'll write more later, if I remember, but the basic premise is to put away a certain amount based on how long you think something will last versus how much you think it will cost to replace.

For example, my five year refrigerator was about two thousand dollars, give or take. That translates into budgeting thirty five dollars a month to get ready for the next replacement. Dishwasher? That was nine bucks. Next one will be about the same, even with the ten year warranty. Spoiler alert, dishwasher prices went up fifty seven percent since my last purchase seven years ago. I know that isn't exactly eight percent per year with compounding, but I don't feel like doing more than simple math right now. And the conclusion is the same. That's ridiculous. And, some say, planned.
